INTRODUCTION TO GARDENING IN VALLARTA
Sunday :: July 1st :: 11AM :: at the XPLANTATION
This is the first in an extensive series of classes on gardening and botany in Puerto Vallarta. Topics covered in this class will be:
- What grows here (and doesn’t grow here in Vallarta)
- Choosing soils, pots, fertilizers and bug controls
- Choosing plants (edible, ornamental, useful)
- Caring for the plants through our wet summers and dry winters
The basics of gardening in the tropics are different than what most people expect. It’s not more difficult to grow potted plants here than elsewhere, just different. Knowing where and how to obtain the materials used is half of the process. The other half is using these materials correctly. This class shows both. The techniques I present are semi-organic (organic farmers will laugh at this description and normal gardeners will appreciate it).
The class is limited in size and will be held here at the XPlantation in Colonia Buenos Aires, just upriver from Old Town in Puerto Vallarta. Parking is abundant and easy and there is bus and cab service to our door. Directions to the Xplantation will be sent upon registration.
The price of the class is 50 pesos.
