Here’s a recipe for a fairly tasty kratom based ‘energy drink’. It was made in an espresso maker.
Add 2 tablespoons ground coffee and 2 teaspoons ground kratom leaf powder to the basket of the espresso maker. Add 8 oz water to the espresso maker. Brew just as when making espresso coffee. Pour the hot kratom-espresso into a mug. Add a cinnamon stick and some sugar (or Splenda®). Stir with the cinnamon stick and let it sit long enough to pick up some cinnamon flavor. Add 4 oz. cold milk and stir. Discard the cinnamon stick.
Drink the brew hot or chilled.
Its taste was coffee-like but with kratom bitterness. Sweetening it heavily makes the bitterness acceptable. The addition of milk tames the tongue-puckering tannic astringency of the kratom.
Effect:
A pleasantly energizing drink without jitteriness. Produces mental and physical alertness, improved concentration, and pleasant euphoria. A much higher amount of kratom would probably make the drink sedating rather than energizing, and would likely make it unpalatably bitter.
Note:
I used fat free Lactaid milk in making this (because I have lactose intolerance). Ordinary milk or even cream should also work.
A variant I intend to try involves adding powdered ginseng root to the above recipe.
