Here’s my recipe for Kratom Tea.
Boil powdered Bali kratom leaf powder (powder has high surface area so that cuts down the boiling time) in water for 10 minutes. Then add a cinnamon stick and boil for 5 more minutes. Save the tea and the partly extracted leaves. Remove the cinnamon stick and return the partly extracted leaves to water and boil another 10 minutes. Add another cinnamon stick to the boil after 5 minutes.
Strain and mix the first tea batch with the second. Sweeten with sugar, Stevia, honey, or Splenda®. Filter HOT through a coffee filter if a clear (not cloudy) tea is desired. I prefer to just use a tea strainer or a French press. if desired chopped ginger root or powdered ginger can be added to the boil along with the cinnamon. Do not use powdered cinnamon though as it makes the tea ‘slimey’.
This tea tastes good enough to drink even if it lacked kratom’s magical effect. Chamomile flowers can be added for a more sedating brew, or maté for a more stimulating one. Blue Egyptian water lily petals or lotus stamens can be added to the brew as can red poppy.
I think Tilea leaves and flowers could also be added for a delicious tasting sedating brew. It Tilea is added i would sweeten with basswood honey as Tilea (Linden) tea and basswood honey have the same taste. Basswood is an American species of Tilea.
