XPLANTA / THEATRUM BOTANICUM is located on the roof of an old building in a working class, non-tourist Puerto Vallarta colonia, Buenos Aires, on the Rio Cuale.
Manantial 375
Between Amapas and Comichin streets
Colonia Buenos Aires
Google Maps shows our address incorrectly. For some odd reason it calls our street “La Rivera” instead of “Manantial” and our colonia as “Ojo de Agua” instead of “Buenos Aires.” Other map services besides Google Maps seem to be correct.
The road that we are on is the original road between Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara. A few miles past our garden this road turns to dirt and continues for the better part of 5 hours to Talpa where it becomes paved again for rest of the journey to Mascota and Guadalajara. A short distance beyond us is the village of Paso Ancho, El Jorullo Ejido and the high Sierra Madre mountains and jungle.
In front of us is the Rio Cuale. On the other side of the river begins Puerto Vallarta. Behind us is the steep mountainside of the jungle. Around us is basically a small Mexican town (Colonia Buenos Aires), legally and physically part of Puerto Vallarta but miles away in atmosphere and attitude.
(the map and satellite locators are approximate)
- Easy taxi/UBER access (we have reliable taxis that we can call when you are ready to leave). A cab ride (for up to 4 people) to or from Centro or the Zona Romantica is usually 60 – 70 pesos.
- Convenient bus access.
The Paso Ancho C-04 bus takes you to or picks you up within a few meters of XPLANTA. The bus fare is 10 pesos and the ride to/from town takes about 10 minutes. This bus runs from 6 am until about 10:00 pm, approximately every 30 minutes. Exact change is required. - Easy walking. It takes approximately half an hour to walk to or from Los Muertos Beach. It is all flatland except for a short bridge over the Rio Cuale (a flight of stairs on both sides of the bridge).
- Car access. Our road, Manantial, is left at the first stop light after the big tunnel when traveling south – or right at the second stop light when traveling north out of the small tunnel. Only minutes from Centro or Olas Altas.)
- Street parking is now fairly easy because the city recently completely paved the road.
- We are not wheelchair accessible. There are three flights of stairs to the rooftop gardens.
We do not accept credit cards. We take Mexican pesos and US currency (at standard rates of exchange).
